Newspaper employees, press workers want 9th wage by Sept 9
Bangladesh Sangbadpatra Karmachari Federation and Bangladesh Federal Union of Newspaper Press Workers yesterday placed their 10-point demand including formation of the ninth wage board by September 9.
At a joint meeting at their Paltan office in Dhaka, they also threatened to stage a grand rally in front of Gate No-1 of Bangladesh Secretariat on September 10 if their demands are not met by the stipulated time.
Their other demands include formation of welfare trust for destitute press workers, a stop to harassment and termination, ensuring their right to conduct trade union activities at all media houses, cancellation of all government facilities of the media houses that do not provide wage board facilities, equal benefit for all types of staff, and paying outstanding dues to the terminated employees.
Federation President Matiur Rahman Talukder chaired the meeting.
