Teen stabbed dead 'by schoolmates'
A teenager was stabbed to death allegedly by two of his schoolmates in Cumilla on Sunday night.
The deceased -- Mumtahim Islam Miron, 14, son of Abul Kalam Azad from Jhawtala area in Cumilla town -- was an eighth-grader of Cumilla Modern School, said neighbours.
Miron got involved in an altercation between two of his schoolmates during a cultural programme at the institution a few days ago, according to his classmates.
The two schoolmates stabbed him in the thigh when he went to a mosque to offer prayers on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat, they said. Miron bled to death, they added.
Victim's uncle Kamrul Islam filed a murder case with Kotwali Model Police Station accusing the two, said Officer-in-Charge Abu Salam Mia.
“We are trying to arrest them,” said the OC.
Miron used to live with his mother and siblings in a rented house in Jhawtala, said Sabbir Rahman Sentu, one of his neighbours. “He [Miron] is second among four brothers.”
His father works in Italy, he added.
