Relief from waterlogging in Ctg soon: LGRD minister
Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Tajul Islam yesterday said the people of Chattogram city would get relief from waterlogging soon.
The minister was speaking at a views-exchange meeting on addressing waterlogging and ongoing development works in the city, at Chattogram Circuit House.
“There are 57 canals in Chattogram city; of those, excavation work in some canals have already been completed while work on the remaining ones are ongoing,” said the minister.
“All the canals will be excavated step by step... people of Chattogram shall get relief from waterlogging,” he said.
The office of Chattogram Divisional Commissioner organised the meeting with Abdul Mannan, divisional commissioner of Chattgram, in the chair.
Recalling the contribution of former mayor of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) late ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury, Tajul said, “The city was the most beautiful one in the country during the tenure of Mohiuddin Chowdhury, and I expect, the city would be more beautiful under the leadership of his successors -- CCC Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin, Chairman of Chattogram District Administration MA Salam and Chairman of Chattogram Development Authority Abdus Salam.”
“We all will have to work together to accelerate the development works of the city,” he said.
Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, AJM Nasir Uddin, MA Salam and Abdus Salam were present, among others, on the occasion.
