Prioritise WASH in manifestos
WASH sector actors yesterday urged all political parties contesting the 11th national election to prioritise water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) in their election manifestos, said a press release.
The demand was made in a joint statement by WaterAid, Unicef, Brac, World Vision, Water.org, FSM Network, Fansa, WSSCC,B, Sanitation and Water for All, and WASH Alliance.
They urged parties to include four pledges in their manifestos including ensuring safe drinking water, inclusive and accessible toilet facilities in public places and institutions, tax free sanitary napkins and associated raw materials, and ensuring equity of WASH investment in urban and rural areas, the release added.
