Newborn found abandoned near Dhaka airport
A newborn was found in a bush near Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka yesterday morning. The baby girl, aged only a day or two, was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital after an airport cleaner found her abandoned.
Jahura Akter said they were working when her colleague Rehana heard the sound of a baby crying from the bush on the airport's north side.
"I found the baby wrapped in a towel and we took her to Airport Police Station. With the help of police, the baby was rushed to DMCH," she said.
Airport Police Station Sub-inspector Razibul Hasan said the baby had no injury marks on her body but she had rashes which possibly happened due to mosquito bites. Police are trying to find who abandoned her, he said.
DMCH Director Brig Gen Nazmul Haque said the baby's weight is around 2.5kgs and she was bleeding from the naval which doctors managed to stop. She was on little oxygen support, he said.
