Fire guts valuables at Ctg warehouse
A fire broke out at a warehouse in Eidgah area of Pahartali in the port city yesterday afternoon.
The incident took place around 1:25pm, said Jashim Uddin, deputy assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters, Chittagong. The warehouse, used for storing crockery items, was closed at that time, he added.
The depot is owned by one Shamsul Alam, said the deputy assistant director. Two firefighting units brought the blaze under control around 2:55pm, he added.
The reason behind the fire or the extent of loss could not be ascertained immediately, said Jashim Uddin, adding, “We are looking into it.”
Till filing of this report around 7:00pm, fire fighters were trying to extinguish the blaze completely.
