Two complaints were filed yesterday against seven activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League CU unit for beating and driving out a residential student from the hall. They also physically assaulted a former vice president of CU Journalist's Association.
Emdadul Haque, a Bachelor’s student of physical education department and residential student of AF Rahman hall, filed complains with the proctor’s office and Hathazari Police Station.
The accused are: Azadur Rahman of sociology, Sabbir Rahman and Shah Jaman of public administration, Muzahidul Islam of sangskrit, Al Amin of bangla, and Arnab Barua and Nayan Madhuk of international relations departments, said Litan Mitra, assistant Proctor of CU.
On February 1, the BCL men asked Emdadul to vacate the room allotted to him in the hall, claimed Emdadul in the complaint.
When he did not comply with the direction, they went to Emdadul’s room and forcefully drove him out after beating him indiscriminately, said the statement. Meanwhile, when Fahim Hasan, CUJA’s former vice president tried to resist them, the BCL men also swooped on him.
“I am a freedom fighter’s son. BCL men beat me and forcefully drove me out of my room without any reason”, he said and sought justice from the CU authorities.
Contacted, CU BCL Joint Secretary Abu Sayeed said the accused are followers of the dissolved committee of the university unit.
“We sat with the victim and solved the matter,” Abu Sayeed claimed.
Meanwhile, Litan Mitra, said CU will take steps against the accused as per the code of the university.
