BGB member, injured in line of duty, dies
A member of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), who sustained critical injuries during a drive in Jashore on Saturday, died at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the city yesterday.
Habilder Akmol Hossain, 52, breathed his last at 9:25am at the critical care unit of the hospital, Mohsin Reza, public relation official of BGB told The Daily Star.
Akmol received splinter injuries to his body and left eye, when smugglers threw a bomb during a drive at Pachvulot border in Benapole.
He was rushed to Jashore CMH immediately and later flown to Dhaka by a helicopter.
An alleged drug peddler, Sujan Mia was killed in BGB retaliation during the drive.
On that day, BGB also arrested four other smugglers, recovered three crude bombs and 300 pieces of phensidyl during the drive.
