Bangabandhu maritime univ gets 1m Euro from Nuffic

With a view to developing the maritime sector in Bangladesh, the Netherlands-based academic institution Nuffic gave a grant to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University (BSMRMU).

The grant was handed over yesterday at the International Mother Language Institute in Dhaka, said a press release.

Under the Nuffic Orange Knowledge programme, the Netherlands government has approved a grant of 1 million Euros to BSMRMU for the development of higher education in the field, and maritime and port sectors in Bangladesh.

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni was chief guest at the event, where Deputy Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury and Dutch Ambassador to Bangladesh Harry Verweij were also present, among others.

BSMRMU VC Rear Admiral M Khaled Iqbal delivered the welcome speech at the event.
