BSF kills 1 on Joypurhat border
A Bangladeshi cattle trader was shot dead by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Nondail border in Panchbibi upazila of Joypurhat early today.
The deceased is Md Razu Ahmed, 28, son of Shahidul Islam of Nondail village in the upazila, according to Joypurhat-3 Battalion of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
The BSF troops of Mothurapur camp in India opened fire when a group of Bangladeshi cattle traders were going to the neighbouring country crossing the border near the 278/58 international pillar around 5:30am, said BGB Deputy Assistant Director of the battalion-3 Major Nasir Imam Rumi.
Razu was hit by a bullet and died on the spot, he said.
The Indian border guards took away the body, he claimed.
Protesting the killing, BGB personnel phoned BSF officials and asked them to return the body immediately.
They also offered to hold a flag meeting but did not get any response from the BSF.
