Road crash kills four of a family in Tangail
Four members of a family were killed and two others injured as a passenger bus ran over a three-wheelers in Tangail Sadar upazila yesterday.
The dead are Md Al Amin, 54, headmaster of Bhadra Shimul Dakkhinpara Government High School and a resident of Bhuapur Pashchimpara village, his wife Sheuli Khatun, 42, his father Sohrab Ali, 75, and mother Saleha Begum, 70.
Al Amin's sister Hazera Begum, and driver of the CNG-run auto-rickshaw injured in the accident were admitted to the Tangail General Hospital.
Motiur Rahman, sub-inspector of Elenga Highway Police Outpost, said the accident took place on Dhaka-Tangail highway in Rabna Bypass area around 10:00am and left all six riders of the CNG-run auto-rickshaw injured.
Locals rushed them to Tangail General Hospital where on duty doctors declared Sheuli Begum dead. Al Amin and his parents later succumbed to their injuries while taking to Dhaka for better treatment.
Al Amin's brother Nazrul Islam said his brother, along with others, was going to Tangail town to take their mother Saleha Begum to a doctor.
Police said they seized the passenger bus but its driver and helpers managed to flee.
