Man ‘murdered’ 6yrs ago shows up in court
A Narayanganj court has summoned eight police officials to appear before it after a man, allegedly abducted and murdered six years ago, appeared before another local court during the trial of a case on Wednesday.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Aftabuzzaman passed the order on Friday.
The man named Mamun appeared before the Narayanganj court Wednesday noon.
His father Abul Kalam had filed a case with Fatullah Model Police Station on May 9, 2016 stating that Mamun was "abducted" on May 10, 2014.
Six people were accused in the case and they all were also imprisoned for different terms.
Allegations of torture of the accused in the name of interrogation during remand were also made against the policemen.
Eight DB and CID officers, who probed the case at various stages, have been asked to appear before the court within seven working days along with the investigation report, said Narayanganj CID Police Superintendent Harun-Ur-Rashid.
The eight are Fatullah Model Police Station Sub-Inspector Mizanur Rahman, Detective Branch SI Mizanur Rahman, SI Safiqur Rahman, SI Ashraful Islam, Inspector Mohammad Afzal Hossain Talukder, Narayanganj Criminal Investigation Department SI Ziauddin Ujjal and two other senior officers.
Police had submitted the charge sheet in the case against six accused on December 18 last year.
According to the charge sheet, Mamun's maternal cousin Taslima called him out of his house and proposed to marry him. As he refused the proposal, the accused made him unconscious by letting him drink soft drinks mixed with a sedative and took him to an unknown place.
However, Taslima denied the allegation and said Mamun went missing after she had denied to accept his proposal to develop a relationship with him.
