Another doctor dies from Covid-19
Another doctor died with Covid-19 infection at Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar on Wednesday night.
Dr Rafiqul Haider, an endocrinologist of the hospital, was being treated at home after he tested positive for coronavirus a couple of days ago, said Saemul Huda, Upazila Health and Planning Officer at Savar.
As his condition deteriorated with acute breathing difficulties at his Mirpur residence last night, he was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared him dead, he added.
Dr Rafiqul was buried at Shaheed Buddhijibi Graveyard at Rayerbazar through Quantum Foundation, said sources.
The doctor was born in Rangunia upazila of Chattogram. He was a student of 23th batch at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College. After achieving his MBBS degree, he joined Enam Medical College Hospital and had served the hospital ever since.
The Daily Star, however, could not contact the hospital's Chairman Dr Enamur Rahman and CEO Dr Anawarul Quader Nazim over phone after repeated attempts.
According to Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA), a total of 44 doctors died of Covid-19 as of yesterday. Besides, a total of 1031 doctors were infected with this virus.
