Madhumita cinema hall to remain closed until further notice; owner fears being fined
After remaining closed for fourteen months, Madhumita Cinema Hall was supposed to be operational from yesterday. The single-screen hall was supposed to reopen with Shakib Khan's Nabab LLB. Despite being fully prepared for their relaunch, the hall authority has decided to remain closed until further notice.
Even though the posters were already printed and the hall has been fully renovated, the authority has taken this decision after considering the government's decision of keeping Dhaka isolated from the rest of the country due to the coronavirus pandemic. The notice declaring the closure of Madhumita has already been pinned on the hall gate and its boundary wall.
"The covid-19 cases are going up with every passing day during this second wave. Thus, we decided to keep Madhumita closed for the time being," shared Iftekhar Uddin Noushad, the owner of Madhumita. "Recently, the movie theatres Chitramahal, Ananda, and Chanda were fined for not maintaining safety regulations set by the government. In such days of struggle, I have already been suffering huge losses. Thus, I intend to keep away from such extra expenses such as fines or penalty fees."
