HerStories: Adventures of Supergirls Volume 2 to launch at DLF
Readers can travel through time, up rivers and streams, with Amiya, the young narrator of HerStories, to meet the Supergirls of Volume 2. In this volume, Amiya has grown up, she is now a 7th grade student who has learned cricket, geometry and sailing. She has also met inspiring women who have taught her valuable lessons about the world.
The Supergirls include philanthropist Nawab Faizunnesa, lawyer Salma Sobhan, entrepreneur Rokia Afzal Rahman and the Women's National Cricket Team among many others. The volume will be launched today in the AKSB Auditorium at the Dhaka Lit Fest.
The book was made by a team of over 30 researchers, writers, illustrators, editors and translators. The Bangla and Braille versions of the book will be available in 2019. The book is created to inspire girls and boys to dream big and to create positive social change.
In addition, the HerStories reading app has the bilingual audio book for HerStories: The Adventures of Supergirls Vol.2 and reading aid for ages 12 and above. The first edition of the app includes six stories in Bangla and English. The tales are based on the lives of home-grown Supergirls of Bangladesh. They are athletes, activists, artists and every day heroines who have changed our world for the better. Their stories foster the notion that girls and boys are equally important.
