5 accused in Thakurgaon gang rape case sent to jail
Five accused of a gang rape case were arrested during overnight drives in different areas of Thakurgaon's Ranisankail upazila.
The arrests were made between last night and early today till 6:00am, our local correspondent reports.
The arrestees were sent to jail after police produced them before the Court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Ariful Islam around 4:00pm today, said Khairul Anam, inspector (investigation) of Ranisankail Police Station.
The arrestees are Jahirul Islam (28), of Khuddro Bashbari village; Rubel (20), Upen Deb (28); Foyjul Akhter (35), of Mahalbari village; and Milon (20), of Dakkhin Sandharoi village in the upazila.
Law enforcers are also looking for another accused Md Ashraful Islam, 28, who is from Jogtha village in Pirganj upazila.
Inspector Khairul Anam, also investigation officer of the case, said the victim aged around 17 years filed the case with the local police station yesterday.
According to the IO, six persons, including the five, raped the girl and her -15-year-old sister at Mahalbari yesterday.
Soon after the case was filed, police started the drive to nab the culprits.
