40 rescued on way to India
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) rescued 40 people, including women and children, from the Putkhali bordering area this morning while being trafficked to India.
A team of BGB raided the area and picked up 26 men, 11 women and three children while they were allegedly being taken to India by traffickers, said Commander Safiuddin of 23 BGB Putkhali Camp.
He added the traffickers, however, managed to flee sensing the presence of the border guards, reports our Benapole correspondent.
The victims hailed from different areas of Narail, Barisal and Faridpur districts, the official added.
The rescued were handed over to Benapole Port Police Station.
A case was filed in this connection.
