1 killed in city tailoring shop fire
A worker was killed and three others sustained burn injuries as a fire broke out at a tailoring shop in Kamrangirchar area of the capital this morning.
Kabir, 38, succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), said sources at Fire Service and Civil Defence.
The three injured are now undergoing treatment at burnt unit of the DMCH.
Firefighters suspected that the fire was started from an electrical short circuit but they could not confirm it.
The four workers were sleeping inside the shop located at Kuraghat when the fire broke out there, said Sheikh Mohsin Alam, officer-in-charge of Kamrangirchar Police Station.
Informed by locals, firefighting units rushed the spot around 6:30am and doused the fire after nearly one and a half hours of frantic efforts, fire fighters sources said.
The firefighters rescued the workers and sent them to the DMCH where Kabir died later.
