2 Natore cops among 5 jailed for stealing motorcycle
A Natore court today sent five people, including two police constables, to jail for different terms for stealing a motorcycle from Natore Police Lines.
Judge Tanzim Alam of Natore Senior Judicial Magistate's Court handed the jail terms to the convicts this afternoon, said Advocate Sirajul Islam, public prosecutor at Natore Judge's Court.
The convicts are: Police constables Shovon Ahmed Don and Rocky Ahmed, and Don's three relatives Mostaq Ahmed, Shariful islam and Shamim Ahmed. Of them, Don was handed three years' jail term while the four others are jailed for two years each, reports our Natore correspondent.
On September 27 in 2017, a motorcycle of Nayek Rayhan Mujib was stolen from the police lines. A case was later filed in this connection with Natore Police Station on October 8, said Natore Court Inspector Md Aminur Rahman.
Natore police submitted charge sheet of the case accusing six people including the wo police constables following investigation, he said.
One other accused, Nuruzzaman, was acquitted by the court as the investigation could not prove his involvement in the crime, the court inspector added.
