Women's hockey team end series with a defeat
Bangladesh women's hockey team, playing under the banner of Dhaka Eleven, conceded a 1-0 defeat against Kolkata Warriors in the last game of their three-match friendly series at the Maulana Bhasani Hockey Stadium yesterday.
The home side had won the first two matches by 3-0 and 2-0 goals respectively.
Dhaka Eleven, formed mostly with under-18 players being groomed for the future national team, dominated and created more chances but lacked the final touches as they wasted five penalty corners. Shama Bano netted the only goal for the visitors in the 22th minute.
“We have to work in every sector in women's hockey as we didn't get enough time. Maybe they are now up for age-group level, but not ready for national team,” opined team manager Tarikuzzaman Nannu after the match.
