SA Games gold medallist Sharmin Akter Ratna staged a brilliant return after four years by regaining the gold medal for the 10m rifle event of the Suzuki 9th National Airgun Championships at the Bangladesh Shooting Complex in Gulshan yesterday.
Ratna of Dhaka Rifle Club, bagged the gold by scoring 242.8 points while veteran Suriya Akter won the silver medal with a score of 241.2 points. Sharmin Akter Jr had to be content with a bronze medal with a score of 219.9 points.
“It was my sixth overall gold medal in the airgun championships where I last bagged gold in 2014. As I have not been in the national camp, I just prepared for 10 days,” said Ratna, who is however not expecting a call up to the national team.
In the women’s 10m air pistol event, Ardina Ferdous won gold with a score of 239.3 points while Armin Asha and Jannatul Ferdous scored 225 and 203.2 points respectively.
