BFF to disburse FIFA Covid fund
Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) clubs and women footballers are getting top priority to get the FIFA Covid-19 relief fund as the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) is all set to disburse 5 lakh US dollars among its 116 affiliated bodies in the coming week.
After informing that FIFA last week released a portion of Covid relief fund worth half a million, BFF president Kazi Salahuddin made this announcement today at his office.
"We have already received a portion of FIFA Covid fund, which will be distributed among all stakeholders like the clubs of BPL, BCL, First, Second, Third division football leagues and district partners who are part of BFF," said Salahuddin, adding that BFF is not using this fund to any other purposes.
Replying to a query, he said, "We will distribute the fund among the institutions and they will decide how to distribute it among the players."
Break-ups of the Covid fund distribution is given below:
* Each of 13 Bangladesh Premier League clubs to get Tk 5 lakh each.
* Each of 12 Bangladesh Championship League clubs to receive Tk 3 lakh each.
* Each of 19 3rd Division Clubs to get TK 50,000 each.
* Women's football to get Tk 1.22 crore
*The national football team to get Tk 50 lakh.
BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag informed that they are not going to provide the funds to the first and second division clubs because of their nonparticipation in the leagues at the moment, but they will think about it in future when they will get further Covid funds.
Replying to a query, Shohag said, "The fund for women football is kept for the next season of Women's Premier Football League and the district teams of the National Women's Football Championship as well as the Covid tests of the match officials."
