Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has begun working on fitness and his recovery from a finger injury has been termed as satisfactory.

Shakib showed up at Thursday's practice session and chatted with coaches and ground staff while also working on his fitness.

"Shakib had a fracture and his X-Ray result was satisfactory," BCB's chief physician Dr. Debashish Chowdhury told The Daily Star today.

Shakib's injury is not on his bowling hand, but batting might still be a bit uncomfortable for him.

"We are hoping he will be alright as his healing is satisfactory. We hope he will be back before the one-dayers. He will have to work hard on his fitness though. He has already started working on his fitness and rehabilitation work with physios will begin soon, "Debashish informed.

BCB's workload management would need Shakib's workload to be at an optimum level before the ODIs and T20s against Afghanistan next month, starting from July 5.

"Yes, workload management criteria is there and that's why he has begun fitness work early," Debashish said.
