‘Shabash Bangladesh’: Tigers laud Tigresses

Bangladesh Men's cricket team players took to social media to congratulate their female compatriots on their maiden ODI World Cup win today. 

The Tigresses etched their names in history when they beat Pakistan by nine wickets in their group stage encounter in the ongoing ICC Women's Cricket World Cup at the Seddon Park in New Zealand today. 

"Bangladesh Women registered their first-ever cricket world cup win, beating Pakistan by 9 runs. Congratulations to the entire team. Shabash Bangladesh," a delighted Tamim Iqbal, Bangladesh Men's team ODI skipper, wrote on his Facebook page. 

"Congratulations to our tigresses on the first ever ODI victory in ICC World Cup, against Pakistan. The first one is always special! What a game. Proud of our team,"  wrote Mushfiqur Rahim, Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter. 

Bangladesh opener Liton Das, meanwhile, was confident that many more triumphs for the Nigar Sultana-led side will follow. 

"Congratulations Girls! First win in World Cup, many more to come for sure," said Liton. 

"A huge moment! Congratulations Tigresses!" said Mahmudullah Riyad, Bangladesh T20I skipper. 

"First win in a World Cup game for Bangladesh Women against Pakistan. Congratulations!" pacer Taskin Ahmed wrote on Facebook. 

Premier allrounder Shakib Al Hasan was also impressed by the Tigresses showing, describing it as a 'magnificent victory'.

"Bangladesh Women's Cricket Team picked up their first-ever victory on the stage of the World Cup. Congratulations to the women's cricket team on this magnificent victory against Pakistan!" Shakib wrote on Facebook.
