Kohli back at the top of ICC Test rankings with pink ball ton
India maestro Virat Kohli, who struck a ton in the pink ball Test against Bangladesh at Kolkata, returned to the top of the ICC Test rankings, overtaking Australia’s Steve Smith, following the latest updates to the rankings.
Kohli struck 136 in the second Test against Bangladesh, a series that the hosts won 2-0 with both the first and second Test ending inside three days. While Steve Smith was not able to capitalize at Brisbane or Adelaide against Pakistan, David Warner climbed up the ranks with a triple century at Adelaide.
Warner moved up 12 spots to fifth for his efforts, and teammate Marnus Labuschagne scored two centuries against Pakistan also made significant gains in his ranking as he broke into the top ten after being ranked as low as 110th at the start of the year.
England captain Joe Root, struggling for form and not being able to convert starts into big knocks, announced his return to form with a double century against New Zealand in the Hamilton Test to occupy the seventh spot on the rankings.
