22-man squad named
Mahbub Harun, head coach of the Bangladesh national hockey team, yesterday trimmed his squad to 22 members, opting to leave out eight members from the preliminary squad, for the upcoming China tour.
The team is expected to leave on August 3 for China where they will play eight warm-up matches as part of their preparations for the 10th Men's Asia Cup, which is scheduled to be held in Dhaka in October.
Harun, however, said this was not the final Asia Cup squad as the eight excluded players can still be considered for that tournament.
“We will tour China with 22 players, and the ones excluded from this tour will still be in consideration for the Asia Cup,” Harun said. “There is a possibility that the team may tour India in September to play some more warm-up matches. So these players might be considered for that tour.”
