Road crashes kill five
Five people were killed and six others injured in road accidents in the country yesterday.
Our staff correspondent reports, a person was killed and five others were injured when an oncoming truck hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw carrying them at Paltan intersection in the capital yesterday.
Deceased Alim, the CNG driver, hailed from Joypurhat.
Our Lalmonirhat correspondent adds, Kashem Miah, 48, of Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila, was killed as the truck he was driving fell into a ditch beside Lalmonirhat-Mogholhat road at Durakuti yesterday.
Our Chittagong correspondent adds, a pick-up van driver, Imam Hossain, 24, of Sitakunda upazila, and his passenger, Ali Ahmed, 65, of Satkania upazila, died when the vehicle crashed into the rear of a parked truck on Chittagong-Cox's Bazar highway at Bhaiyar Dighirpar in Patiya upazila yesterday.
Meanwhile in the port city, helper of a mini truck was killed and the driver injured when the vehicle hit a parked covered van in Colonel Haat area.
The deceased was Rubel, 25.
