Road crashes kill 6, injure 9
Six people were killed and nine others injured in road accidents in the country yesterday.
Our staff correspondent from Chittagong reports, Md Shah Alam, 52, was killed as an unidentified vehicle ran him over while he was crossing Dhaka-Chittagong highway near Khumira Islamic University in Sitakunda upazila yesterday morning, said police.
In another incident, Thakur Prashad Das, 55, son of Niranjan Das, of Anwara, died as a CNG-run auto-rickshaw crashed into a parked truck on Chittagong-Cox's Bazar highway in Patiya early yesterday.
Yet another incident, Toni Dhar, 16, son of Anil Dhar, was killed and four other persons were injured as a minibus carrying a bridal party members flipped to its side at Noya Khal Mukh in Satkania upazila yesterday.
The injured are Subroto Dhar, 18, Jishu Dhar, 19, Rina Dhar, 45, and Apu Dhar, 28.
Our Dinajpur correspondent reports, Md Tanvir Ahmed, 8, son Belal Hossain of Salbon area in Khetlal Sadar upazila of Joypurhat, was killed on the spot as a car hit him while he was crossing Joypurhat-Bogra highway in Salbon yesterday afternoon, police said.
Our Moulvibazar correspondent reports, pedestrian Faruq Miah, 32, son of late Firoj Miah of Lalpur village in Kulaura upazila, was killed and five passengers of a car were injured as the vehicle hit the man on Kulaura-Moulvibazar road in Kumia area of the upazila in Moulvibazar yesterday, said witnesses.
The injured were admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College hospital.
Our Mymensingh correspondent adds, a college student was killed as an oncoming bus hit his motorbike on Mymensingh-Haluaghat road at Moilakanda of Charkalibari area in Sadar upazila yesterday evening.
Alsin Khan Durjyo, 19, son of Ali Ashraf Khan, was a student of the town's Royal Media College.
