- Pakistan army attack a group of the allied force, assembled with NAP, communist party members and Chhatra Union members, at Betiara area near Comilla frontier. After a fiery fight, Pakistan troops retreat. Nine freedom fighters including Nizamuddin Azad and Sirajum Munir embraced martyrdom in the battle.
- Muktibahini attack Kamalpur Pakistan base in Comilla with mortar shells. Five Pakistan troops killed and 12 wounded. In a separate drive, Muktibahini kill two Pakistan military men in an ambush at Chaora area.
- Six are killed and 55 injured in a car bomb blast near Baitul Mukarram market in Dhaka in the afternoon. The military arrest a guerrilla from the spot.
- Muktibahini ambush Pakistan army on Nasti-Gugri highway at Sector No. 8. 10 military men and a Razakar are killed in a mine attack.
- Muktibahini guns down a Pakistani fighter jet with a Light Machine Gun as three jets try to attack their bases at Belunia and Parshuram area around 3:50pm.
- Indian PM Indira Gandhi at a press conference in Bohn says that India wants to see a political resolution in East Bengal according to the people’s choice.
- CMLA General Yahya Khan orders special tribunal against the freedom fighters and their associates.
- Military administration in Dhaka orders to dig trenches in all civilian areas of the province.
- A team of Pakistani representative goes to China to acquire additional support. They request China to help Pakistan with fighter jets and modern warfare arsenal, reports BBC’s special correspondent David Clarke. Chinese weapons are on the way to Pakistan as the meeting continue, he added.
