Now 'hand-made grenade' found in Thakurgaon town

Recovery of a 'hand-made grenade' at Hazipara on Tuesday night has trigged panic among the townspeople.
Only nine days ago, another powerful bombs was found near a government office here.
Police and witnesses said, at about 8:45pm, housewife Shefali Begum saw a bomb-like object beside a roadside drain.
She informed the matter to sub-inspector (SI) of Thakurgaon Detective Branch (DB) of police Mohammad Abul Hasnat, a resident of Hazipara.
Police rushed to the spot and recovered the hand-made grenade and put it in water in a bucket.
Later, officer-in-charge of Thakurgaon police station Feroz Khan, who received a three-month training on bomb disposal from Bangladesh Army and another training America, defused the grenade in an hour-long effort.
Feroz told this correspondent that the object was a hand-made grenade.
"Investigation is on and we have already got some important information about the matter. But we can not disclosed it now," the OC said.
Earlier on May 23 a remote controlled high-powered bomb weighing about one kilogram was recovered from a corner of Thakurgaon Public Works Department (PWD) office.
People expressed the fear that militants might be planning some subversive activities in the town as they are active in the district.
Our Staff correspondent in Khulna reports: Khulna railway police recovered six Chinese rifles on Sunday evening from a compartment of inter-city Rupsha Express train.
According to Naik Moslem Sheikh of Railway police, these six most modern arms were found in a bag lying on the bunker while the train was bound for Syedpur from Khulna.
A general diray was filed with railway police station, Khulna in connection with recovery of the firearms.
