Graft case against Biman officials: Bail petition hearing deferred to Sept 10
A Dhaka court today rescheduled to September 10 the hearing on bail petitions of 21 former and present officials of Biman Bangladesh Airlines in a Tk 1,161-crore corruption case.
Judge Md Asaduzzaman of Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge's Court passed the order after defence for the accused submitted separate applications, seeking an adjournment of hearing in the case.
The judge said all the accused will remain free till September 10 as they were before, said ACC Public Prosecutor Mosharraf Hossain Kazol.
On February 8, the High Court refused to grant bail to them after they surrendered before it and sought anticipatory bail in the same case.
The HC also ordered the accused officials to surrender before the lower court concerned in three weeks.
On February 6, the ACC filed a case against 23 people including the airline's former flight captain (operation) Ishrat Ahmed for causing financial loss to the national flag carrier.
Among them, two accused are yet to file bail petition in this case.
