Covid-19 toll keeps climbing: 60 deaths in 24 hours, positivity rate now 16.62%
Sixty people have died from Covid-19 in 24 hours (till 8am today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With this the total number of deaths in the country has reached 13,282 and the death rate stands at 1.59 percent.
At least 3,956 new infections were recorded in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 8,37,247, added the release.
The current positivity rate is 16.62 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.41 percent.
A total of 23,807 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8am today).
At least 2,679 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 7,73,752 and the recovery rate at 92.42 percent.
Among the 60 deceased, 36 were men and 24 women. Of them, three were between 11-20, one was between 21-30, seven between 31-40, 10 between 41-50, 16 between 51-60 and 23 were above 60 years old, added the release.
