Bangladesh women’s emerging side win first one-day against SA
Bangladesh women's emerging side, featuring many of the national team players, defeated South Africa women's emerging team by 54 runs in the first one-day at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet, thanks to impressive effort with the ball from Jahanara Alam and Salma Khatun.
Batting first, Bangladesh scored 195 for nine in their fifty overs before bundling out the visitors for 141 all out.
After being sent into bat, Faragana Haque held the innings together with a 100-ball 7, laced with five fours. She remained unbeaten as the hosts reached 195 with useful contributions at the top from openers Murshida Khatun (36) and Shamima Sultana (34).
Salma bagged three wickets while Jahanara, Rumana Ahmed and Sanjida Akhter grabbed two wickets each. Andrie Steyn was the only notable contributor in the South Africa innings, the opener struck 41 of 83 deliveries.
