Neymar, Alves join Messi in criticising Barca over Suarez departure
Former Barcelona forward Neymar and full-back Dani Alves joined Lionel Messi after the Barcelona captain criticised the way the club treated his strike partner Luis Suarez, who completed a move to Atletico Madrid this week.
Messi, who was on the verge of leaving Barcelona before the start of the new season, took to Instagram to lash out at the club for the way they treated Suarez.
"You did not deserve for them to throw you out like they did. But the truth is that at this stage nothing surprises me anymore," Messi wrote on his official Instagram account on Friday.
Former Barcelona full-back Dani Alves, who had long been vocal about his issues with the club's hierarchy and had left the club back in 2016 following a disagreement over a contract, commented on Messi's post slamming the Barcelona board.
"Unfortunately that is the reality, which comes from long ago. It is only confirmed year after year! It is not about winning or losing, we know that and much, it is about respect and they do not know! Keep going that somehow we are there," read Alves' comment.
Brazil forward Neymar, who moved from Barca to PSG for a world-record fee of 222 million euros in 2017 but took the La Liga side to court over the terms of the last contract he signed with them a year earlier, also criticised the Barcelona board in the comment section of Messi's post.
"Incredible how they do things," read Neymar's comment.

On Wednesday, Suarez left Barcelona's training ground for the final time and was filmed crying while driving away. The 33-year-old striker, who had one year left on his contract, was informed by newly appointed Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman that the Uruguayan striker was not in his plans for the new season.
