Wishing you a very happy birthday. How are you spending the day?
I have been staying at home since the beginning of the pandemic. I am spending this day at home, receiving phone calls and messages from my well-wishers. My son is in Washington, my younger daughter is in Toronto and my eldest daughter is in Dhaka. All three of them wished me over the phone at midnight. I feel blessed to receive so much love from everyone.
What are some of the important lessons you have learned over the years?
I have learned that nothing is more beautiful and purer than being alive. I have led quite an amazing life, with many memorable experiences. I always try to stay positive.
Do you remember the first time you went to the BFDC?
I remember the day vividly. The main gate was on the other side back then. There was a canal inside the BFDC and we had to cross a bridge over it. I first went there to shoot the film, Dharapat. Most of the people that I worked with back then are no more. At this age, I look back on those days fondly.
Do you enjoy watching your own work?
I have been revisiting many of my old telefilms and films these days, and I enjoy the experience. I recently watched Rokto Korobi, a show that I did for BTV, again.
Do you have any special wishes on your birthday?
I wish for a world with no conflict. Our youngsters should never forget the ideals of our brave freedom fighters. We all need to be there for each other, in these tough times.
