Lured to Vietnam: 3 recruiting agencies’ directors placed on remand
A Dhaka court today placed the directors of three recruiting agencies -- which are linked to a human trafficking ring in Vietnam -- on three-day remands each.
The arrestees are: Jamal Uddin alias Sohag, 34, Kamal Hossain, 39, and his brother Jamal Hossain, 37, of Khalishpur in Khulna.
The recruiting agencies are JK Overseas Ltd and Mash Career Service. These were involved in the recent trafficking of 11 Bangladeshis to Vietnam.
Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Sufiyan Md Noman passed the order after Md Shah Alam, a sub-inspector of Paltan Police Station, also investigation officer of the case, produced them before the court with a seven-day remand prayer.
In the remand prayer, the IO said the three arrestees, along with others, trafficked 11 Bangladeshi job-seekers to Vietnam and law enforcers needed more information on the incident.
On the other hand, defence lawyers submitted two separate petitions seeking bails along with cancellation of the remand prayer.
After hearing both sides, the magistrate rejected their bail petitions and issued the remand order.
The three directors were arrested on July 8, from the city's Paltan area and a case was filed against them with the same police station.
On July 3, all the 11 Bangladeshis returned from Vietnam and informed Rab, which arrested the three and seized a total of 254 passports from their possession.
