Biman to resume flights to Dubai, Abu Dhabi from July 9
In a major development, Biman today decided to resume its flights on the Dubai and Abu Dhabi routes from July 9, paving the way for thousands of stranded Bangladeshi workers to return to their workplaces in the UAE.
Earlier on July 5, the national flag carrier decided not to operate its regular flights on the two high demand destinations.
Sources at the national flag carrier said Biman was forced to suddenly suspend flight operations on the routes as the foreign ministry informed it that they would not be able to carry any passengers from UAE to Bangladesh.
Biman argued that one-way operations from Dhaka to UAE will cause huge losses for them.
Talking to The Daily Star about the latest development, Mohibul Haque, secretary, civil aviation ministry, today said, "We have decided to resume regular commercial flight operations on Dubai and Abu Dhabi route from July 9 after talking with the foreign ministry."
He also said Biman will operate weekly three flights on the two routes.
