Udichi celebrates 51st founding anniversary
Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigosthi celebrated their 51st founding anniversary with programmes across the country, on October 29.
Udichi Central Committee arranged a programme in Swoparjita Swadhinata Chattar at University of Dhaka (DU), where artistes commenced the programme with the national anthem and theme song of the organisation.
The event featured a discussion and a cultural function. Udichi Central Committee General Secretary Jamshed Anwar Tapan gave the welcome speech.
Cultural personality Kamal Lohani, Former President of Udichi Central Committee Golam Mohammad Edu and President of Udichi Central Committee Dr Shafiuddin Ahmed, among others, were present at the programme as discussants.
Following the discussion, artistes entertained the audience with songs, poems and geeti alekhya.
Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigosthi was established by Satyen Sen and Ranesh Das Gupta on October 29 in 1968, in the wake of the mass uprising against autocracy.
The cultural organisation aims to raise awareness through activities comprised of music, theatre, dance, fine arts and literature.
Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigosthi was awarded the Ekushey Padak in 2013.
The organisation has branches across the country and foreign branches in the USA, England, Australia, Canada and France.
