ADB President Takehiko Nakao announces to resign
Takehiko Nakao has announced to resign from the president post of the Asian Development Bank, to be effective from 16 January 2020, a statement of the bank said today.
He assumed office as President of the ADB on 28 April 2013.
The election for the new president will be in accordance with the open, transparent and merit-based procedure, according to the statement.
In his remark to the staff and board members, he said “I am announcing my resignation with a deep sense of satisfaction and gratitude. With support from staff, board members and member governments, we have achieved many things.”
He mentioned that the ADB will continue to develop and reinvent itself in respond to change that needs for the developing member countries and for pursuing its mission to help in achieving “a prosperous, inclusive, resilient and sustainable Asia and the Pacific.”
He also emphasised the ADB must continue to be an important centre for fostering cooperation and friendship among the countries.
Nakao concluded by saying “I am committed that I will do my best in performing my responsibility until my last day at the ADB.”
