BD miss out on bronze
The Bangladesh women's compound team missed out on a bronze medal at the Asia Cup: World Ranking Archery Tournament (Stage-1) as they lost by 200-229 points to Kazakhstan in Bangkok, Thailand yesterday.
Bangladesh, comprised of Susmita Banik, Banna Akter and Shyamoli Roy, beat Iran by 220-215 points in the quarterfinals to face India in the semifinal, where they lost by 233-216 points. This meant that the bronze medal deciding match was all that was left for Bangladesh, however, the girls in red and green basically seemed to surrender.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh men's compound team could not cross the quarterfinal hurdle, losing by 228-222 points to their Kazakhstani counterparts while the mixed compound team also quit from the quarterfinals following a 154-148 points defeat to Malaysia.Today, the men's and women's recurve teams will face the Philippines and Chinese Taipei respectively while the top ranked archer, Ruman Sana, will hope to bag his third international gold medal in the men's recurve individual event.
