I am overwhelmed with glee and gratitude upon receiving this award. The submission was just out of a curiosity initially, but winning it has now made it a responsibility for me. I feel I have some responsibility towards this art now. I am an architect by profession; film making is something I have been nurturing lately. Little did I know that my hobby is going to bring me such great honor. I am quite amateur in this field and this is one of my first works, so getting an award was beyond imagination. While making this fiction film, which revolves around the lives of three friends and their regrets, I not only felt myself close to reality, but also got acquainted with some of my weaknesses behind the camera, which needed remedy. Hence, I started taking several courses and trainings to hone my capabilities and skills in this field, so that my next work is even bigger and better and technically well shaped.
The biggest challenge that the young film-makers of our country are facing these days is the budget, the fund that they require to present a good work. The Standard Chartered-The Daily Star Celebrating Life is such a platform that has not only given us recognition but has also provided us with the support to move forward. This recognition is a motivation which has ignited my desire to give back more to this field. It is a platform that is facilitating the artist of all ages; on one hand they are awarding the senior experts of the field, and on the other, they are encouraging the junior and upcoming ones. Meeting both the ends in a single platform is not an easy task but The Daily Star and Standard Chartered Bank has taken this great initiative – I am really thankful. I must mention my friends in my list of gratitude as it is for them I could make it possible. They were the biggest support system throughout. Being an Architect, film-making was just a hobby for me till now, but this award has added feathers to my film-maker hat and now I aspire to be a full-fledged film-maker as much as I aspire to be a successful architect. I hope to come-up with some excellent works melding my expertise in both fields.
