Mobile courts fine 12 businesses

Mobile courts in Chittagong yesterday fined 12 shops and vendors, and realised around Tk 1.71 lakh from them for selling adulterated and expired food, and not hanging price charts.

In Kotwali, a court led by Executive Magistrate Marufa Begum fined Adi Shadhu Mishti Bhandar Tk 20,000.

The same court also fined Sadhu Restaurant Tk 20,000 and Mishti Mela Tk 10,000.

In Firingi Bazar, another court led by Executive Magistrate Mahfuza Jerin, fined three vegetable vendors Tk 500 each and a grocery shop Tk 1,000. The same court fined Mohammadia Restaurant Tk 50,000 for selling adulterated food in an unhygienic condition.

Hasanuzzaman of Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection, said a drive fined Dastagir Hotel Tk 30,000 for storing cooked meat along with raw meat, among others.
