Natalie Portman joins “Vox Lux”
Natalie Portman has boarded the music drama “Vox Lux” from director Brady Corbet, taking on the lead role of Celeste, it was announced Friday (January 26).
Portman replaces Rooney Mara, who was earlier attached to play a pop star in Corbet's 15-year odyssey that takes place from 1999 to present day as it tracks the rise of singer Celeste to superstardom. Jude Law is also attached as a lead.
Bold Films and Andrew Lauren Productions will finance and produce “Vox Lux”. Singer/songwriter Sia will provide original songs for the film's soundtrack, while” Vox Lux” is shot in 65mm large format and will be screened in 70mm.
Start of production is set for February 1 in New York City.
Portman is also in negotiations to star in” Pale Blue Dot”, an astronaut drama that Noah Hawle is directing for Fox Searchlight. Portman next stars in “Annihilation”, Paramount and Skydance's sci-fi thriller from Alex Garland.
Andrew Lauren, D.J. Guggenheim, Christine Vachon, David Hinojosa, Michel Litvak, Gary Michael Walters, David Litvak and Svetlana Metkina will produce “Vox Lux”. Sierra/Affinity is repping worldwide rights to the film.
