JMB man gets life
A court here yesterday sentenced an activist of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) to life term imprisonment in an arms case.
The lifer is Md Selim alias Harun Mistri, 34, son of Durul Huda of Johurpur-Bokripara in Sadar upazila.
According to the prosecution, Rapid Action Battalion arrested Harun from his house on July 7 in 2009. They also recovered a pistol, nine bullets and two magazines from his possession.
Sub-Inspector Anwar Hossain of Rab-5 filed a case, accusing Harun, with Sadar Police Station under Arms Act.
After examining witnesses and evidence, Judge of Special Tribunal-2, also additional district and sessions judge of Chapainawabganj, Ziaur Rahman found Harun guilty and pronounced the verdict.
