Bangladesh government has trained evaluators to mark public examinations with less inconsistency in mark distribution, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said today.

The step has been taken so that all examinees get equal marks of the same question examined by different examiners, he said. “Usually given marks vary from examiner to examiner”.

“Some two thousand head examiners have been trained to this end with assistance from Bangladesh Education Development Unit,” the minister told the media after visiting examination venues.

He was at Government Laboratory High School in Dhanmondi overseeing the students sitting for their first test of the Secondary School Certificate examinations this year.

The examination started at 3,236 centres all over the country around 10:00am. This year, 17,86,613 students -- 9,10,501 boys and 8,76,112 girls, are expected take part in the examinations.

Of them, 14,25,900 students will sit for the SSC examination under eight general education boards. Some 2,56,501 students will appear in the Dakhil examinations while 1,04,212 students will participate in the SSC vocational examinations.

Ruling out any possibility of question leak ahead of the tests, the minister said there is no possibility of question paper leak as the govt has taken rigid steps in this regard.
