Ticket tout jailed in Jamalpur
A mobile court sentenced a ticket tout to four months' imprisonment at Jamalpur railway station on Thursday night.
The convict is Liton Miah, 30, son of Arab Ali of Shahpur area of the town.
A clash ensued when some commuters, failing to buy tickets of Dhaka-bound Agnibina intercity train from the station, were bargaining with touts before the ticket counter who demanded Tk 280 for each ticket, which normally costs Tk 160 each.
Hearing chaos, railway police rushed to the spot and rescued the ticket seekers from the severe beating by the ticket touts and managed to arrest Liton with two tickets.
Later, a mobile court led by Executive Magistrate Padmasan Singha announced the jail term.
