John Whittle in?
Bangladesh Football Federation has closed in on roping in a strength and conditioning specialist for its football teams, with a special focus on building physical aspects of its age-group teams for a long-term.
John Whittle, who has reportedly been recommended by BFF's strategic and technical director Paul Smalley, has been described in BFF's four-year development plan as BFF's 'head of physical conditioning', and a 'specialist in the field and in the implementation of key conditioning development programmes across all age categories and at all levels of the game.'
Whittle, who arrived here on Friday night, was present during Bangladesh Football Federation president's meet with the women's national team, where the Englishman was reportedly introduced as a strength and conditioning specialist of the national and age-group teams.
Although no official confirmation from the BFF regarding either his appointment or his background has been disclosed, Whittle is believed to have worked as AFC in the role as head of youth development from 2007 to 2012 after serving as the national development officer of New Zealand Football.
He had spent his last three years as the director of football in the New Plymouth Boys' High School in New Zealand. A deal with Whittle is expected to be signed within a few days, according to sources.
