125 Rohingyas’ infiltration attempt foiled
Bangladesh Coast Guard today foiled an attempt of 125 Rohingyas including women and children to infiltrate into the country through Naf river in Teknaf and sent them back to Myanmar from the river.
“Rohingyas tried to infiltrate into Bangladesh through Naya Para No. 5 Sluice Gate area under Sabrang union of Teknaf upazila. But the Coast Guard resisted them,” said Lt Nafiur Rahman, commander of Coast Guard Teknaf.
The Rohingyas included 36 children, 61 women and 28 men, our Cox’s Bazar correspondent reports quoting the commander.
Coast Guard has increased patrolling along the Naf river to monitor the movement of Rohingyas, he added.
On November 15, Border Guard Bangladesh detained 86 Rohingyas in two boats while they were entering the country through Hnila and Sabrang areas in Teknaf. Later, they were sent back to Myanmar.
