BSF kills two Bangladeshis
Two Bangladeshi nationals were shot dead by the Indian Border Security Force in Kurigram and Jhenidah early yesterday.
The dead are Lal Mia, 25, of Roumari upazila in Kurigram and Jashim Mondol, 38, of Begumpur village in Chuadanga.
In Jhenidah, BSF men gunned down cattle trader Jashim when he along with some other men went to Baghadanga border area to bring in cattle from India, reports our correspondent.
Lt Col Tajul Islam of BGB 58 battalion said they heard some traders went to the border area in Maheshpur upazila around 3:30am yesterday to fetch Indian cattle.
“As the traders reached Hazrakhali area in India, BSF soldiers from Ramnagar camp fired shots at them, leaving Jashim dead on the spot,” Tajul added.
A letter was sent to the BSF, asking it to return the body at the earliest, said the official of Border Guard Bangladesh.
Our correspondent in Kurigram reports: BSF members shot dead Lal Mia when he went to Nanirchar frontier in Roumari upazila to bring in Indian cattle.
Belal Hossain, sub-inspector of Roumari Police Station, said some traders went to Nanirchar area in the upazila around 4:00am yesterday.
“As they entered the no-man's-land, BSF soldiers of Jhalurchar BOP opened fired, leaving Lal Mia dead,” he added.
Bullets hit the victim's back, said the OC.
