Youth hacked injured at Mirpur
Unidentified criminals hacked a youth to injuries at Rupnagar in city's Mirpur last night.
The victim, Sunnyur Rahman, 26, is an IT engineer and resident of Shaheenbag in the capital's Tejgaon.
He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with wounds in his head, neck, right leg and left hand.
Sunnyur's family suspects Jamaat-Shibir cadres might have carried out the assault as he was a supporter of ongoing Shahbagh movement.
His mother Nilufar Yasmin told The Daily Star that Sunnyur came under attack around 9:00pm near Purabi Cinema Hall in Mirpur. He was going to his in-law's house at Pallabi.
As he got down from a bus, two attackers swooped on him and hacked him with machetes, she quoted Sunnyur as saying.
Sunnyur Rahman was at DMCH as of 1:30am today.
Sub-Inspector Enamul Huq of Pallabi Police Station confirmed the report.
